Customer Reviews

Very Comfy, but Beware m40x (and m50x? ) UsersFirst off, these pads are very comfortable and I have no problem wearing these for hours and hours. Now with that said, I purchased these to try on my M40x's. As comfy as they are, it is a very loose fit and it's obvious it wasn't made for those headphones. The sound signature will also be affected, as there is a noticeable lack of bass compared to using stock or hm5 pads, and tame the highs. They sure do bring out the midrange and results in a nice sound for low volume listening, but if you listen with any decent amount of volume, bass is simply lacking. While I will not be using these on my m40x, I will wait to get a Shure pair of headphones (probably 840s) and see how these fair on those.4Alcantara is Way Better than VelourUsed these to replace the stock velour pads on a pair of Fidelio X2s. Compared to velour, the alcantara pads from the 1540 are a dream. They didn't make my ears overheat, and they could be worn for far longer due to greater comfort. As it was an ear pad change it did change the sound signature of my Fidelios. It lost some of the famous Fidelio sound stage, but in return I got greater presence and detail. It didn't fix the inherent graininess in the Fidelios, but in my opinion they did sound better. And I already liked how they sounded. Not a bad trade-off.Now I have a pair of Monoprice M1060's and these, along with the Fidelios, are now being enjoyed by my aunt.55 stars for Comfort. 4.9 for slight loss of bass in Audio-Technica ATH-M50xNote: I wear glasses, these pads are still comfy after many hours of use.The stock pads on the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x proved uncomfortable after long periods of time so I bought these in pursuit of more comfortable use. These Shure Pads deliver exactly what the doctor ordered, I'm comfortable 4+ hours after the point where the old pads would hurt my ears. So in that regard, this is a 5 star product. There is most definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, an unquestionably noticeable difference in sound between the stock ATH-M50x pads and these Shure HPAEC940 pads. However, it's not a dramatic difference, nor is it a deal breaker, or even a problem. It makes little (no) difference in gaming, watching media, casual music listening, and even in actual music & video production. I would actually recommend these pads for editors and musicians because they make your sesh comfier. It's not like you can't hear the bass anymore or anything like that, it is only a touch quieter/less punchy than what you're accustomed to with the stock pads. I guess some soundwaves leak out of the softer material. I keep my old pads in the bag these pads come in if I ever need to take a closer "look" at the low end of any sound. That hasn't been necessary and the Shure pads are treating me well and holding up to daily use and travel. Reccomended.5Great replacement Ear Pads for the ATH-M50 headphones. Some noticeable change in sound though.I use these ear pads on my Audio Technicia ATH-M50 headphones and they feel MILES better than the default ATH-M50 ear pads. These ear pads install fairly easily and are roughly the same size. They do not fall off the headphones at all even when yanking my headphones off, them getting caught on an ear, etc. These earpads DO change the way the headphones sound though. I prefer the sound of my ATH-M50 headphones with the default ATH-M50 ear pads than these ear pads, but not by much. They sound 'different' and I just prefer the sound of the original ear pads better but I absolutely could not stand the way the original ear pads would feel after about 10 minutes of use. I could use these ear pads for over 30-35 minutes until they start feeling a little irritating.Headphones will irritate me after some time eventually anyhow but these are a great upgrade from the original ear pads and I never use the original ATH-M50 ear pads ever again. Worth the purchase price for me. Save yourself if the default ATH-M50 ear pads or default ear pads of whatever headphones you are using just feel terrible. They change the sound of the headphones to something 'different'. They are not objectively worse but they do not sound the same. In my opinion the bass is muffled by the cushion and soft material of these ear pads if what I am keep seeing as the difference in sound.Comfort: 8.5/10 ~ They feel great. They do not entirely resolve the issue with headphone irritation for me as they will eventually begin to irritiate my ears but they feels miles better than many default ear pads especially the ATH-M50 headphones.Sound: 7.5/10 ~ These ear pads will change the sound of your headphones and you will notice it. It is not objectively better or worst. It is just 'different' in my opinion. I feel that these ear pads dampen some bass that your headphones may be giving off because of the soft material.Durability: 9/10 ~ These have not given ware or have begun to stretch or break at all. They feel, look, and sound just as good as I got them almost a year ago to now.4Questionable Quality, Needs time to wear down. The pads feel very stiff for memory foam like pads. It doesn t really like to compress around glasses and can feel uncomfortable. Without glasses, they feel like stiff memory foam covered with a foldable(one with holes) laundry bag with very expensive feeling crafting felt. It keeps the temperature warm but not too hot.It takes a while for the cups to soften up, I just compressed and decompressed my pads until the crunching noises reduced by half and now they feel great with glasses. The crunch sounds like hard foam from the dollar store when crushed-but about 10% the volume. Is it worth $40, not really, $20 would be a better match for these pads. Mine came with issues with the stitching behind the cups. It doesn't change the sound but it bothers me that one day If I take it off too much, its going to fall apart.I have a couple friends with these pads who mated these with the mkIII and shur headphones and the pads tend to vary in comfort and quality. I hope the longer I use these the better they feel. I do not plan to return these as they are good enough for me - better than the stock pads on the MKIII.I plan to keep these pads on for a long time, I hope nothing bad goes wrong in the future.4The HPAEC440 are PERFECT for Sony V6 & 7506 headphones. Awesome fit, comfort, feel and sound isolation. Great price too..!I recently purchased these for replacing my worn out Sony MDR-7506 headphone ear pads. All I can say is WOW !!!! These are absolutely perfect for them. They have a smooth surface whereas the original Sony ear pads were sort of crinkled in appearance. These create a a perfect seal and the sound is awesome - I should have replaced the much worn Sony's sooner. They are also extremely comfy, very soft and feel great on my head and completely encircle my ears. Installation was extremely easy - 5 minutes tops from opening the box to having them on the headphones and plugged in. There are a number of reviews on this Amazon site that state these pads are way too loose for the Sony''s V6 and 7506. That is INCORRECT or AT LEAST MISLEADING as they are referring to the HPAEC840 pads which are bigger and would be loose on the Sony headhphones. Apparently all the reviews for Shure replacement pads are lumped together in the reviews here on Amazon. These pads (HPAEC440) are smaller than the 840's and fit perfectly on the Sony 7506. I believe that the 7506 and Sony V6 headphones are very, very similar in design and structure so I would expect these to fit the same on those. If you want these for replacement of Sony ear pads, just make sure you buy the ones for the Shure HPAEC440. I placed these right on top of the Sony pads I removed and they are exactly the same size however the Shure provides a little more room for your ear inside. The outside or part of the pads that fit on the Sony ear cups appear to be almost identical. So for you Sony V6 and 7506 owners looking for some awesome pads (at a great price too) look no further - buy these. I feel sure you'll be very satisfied.5... looking and looking and looking some more for a nice gaming headsetSo I have been looking and looking and looking some more for a nice gaming headset. I could not find a decent pair with cloth style ear pads. I bought the ps gold headset as it has outstanding reviews and there was a great sale going on. I don't care for the leather/ pleather earpad. The leather ones always get all hot and sweaty and uncomfortable. I scoured the internet for replacement pads but I couldn't find them. I stumbled upon these and in the review someone said they used these on a pulse elite. I decided to give it a shot and they worked well... These are probably the most comfortable earpads ever. Its like you have 2 velour pillows sitting on each ear. My sound quality also improved and there is far less noise leaking out the headset. This was an awesome purchase and a huge improvement over the stock headset!5Comfortable, high quality replacements for shp9500 stock pads.If you have ever considered replacing your stock pads on your SHP9500's, these are the ones to get. After going through the process of ripping the dirty, itchy, old pads out of the headphones, with just a bit of effort you can get these around the rings and they fit perfectly. No popping off, and best of all they actually make the headphones sound better. They alleviate the fact that for most the SHP9500's are too loose on the head, increasing the clamping for just a touch, to keep them more snug, while not being uncomfortable. They also don't change the tone of the headphones, but do give them a bit of a punchier low end. They won't turn your SHP9500's into bass cannons, but they also won't destroy the sound signature like something like the Brainwavz would.5Shure HPAEC840 pads works on Philips SHP9500!I purchased a pair of Shure HPAEC840 ear pads to replace the stock ones on my Philips SHP9500S headphones. To my surprise it works really well. If you know about the Philips SHP9500S you'll know a bit of modding is required to change the stock ear pads. A lot of posts and videos online are using the Brainwavz pads. I tried it but the increase depth in the ear cup changes the sound quality for me. Treble becomes harsher and bass response decreases because your ear are now further away from the driver. On the other hand this pair of Shure pads maintains the depth hence the sound quality while still being very comfortable to wear. After the mod it's even easier to put on than the Brainwavz ones. It's a very snug fit but not too difficult to apply. And the pads just look like they are designed for the SHP9500. I'm very satisfied.5Love the Audio-Technica M50x headphones but disliked the discomfort caused by their ...I purchased some Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones about 10 days ago. Love the headphones but disliked the discomfort caused by their seemingly inadequate ear pads. I love the sound of the headphones, being impressed by the great detail in the midrange and highs and terrific bass response. Trying to remedy the ear pad issue, I followed many recommendations here on Amazon user reviews and purchased a pair of Brainwavz Replacement Memory Foam Earpads. Being much thicker than the stock M50x earpads, the wearing comfort level was majorly improved. Just like others had mentioned however, the trade-off was that the bass response was rather significantly reduced, apparently due to the thickness of the Brainwavz pads and resultant moving of my ears further away from the headphones speakers. I did notice an improvement in apparent soundstage but also a bit of treble harshness, perhaps due to the thinner material of the Brainwavz that covers the speakers. A little disappointed, I opted to try another recommended replacement pad, the Shure HPAEC840s. I had spent quite a few hours comparing the stock pads with the Brainwavz and was not really looking forward to taking the pads off and on the headphones again. The Shure's arrived thru the mail today and are quite a bit bigger (opening longer and wider) than the stock pads. Not nearly as thick as the Brainwavz and much easier to put on, it was immediately obvious in listening that most, if not all the bass and it's punch were back (even a bit tighter and more defined) and with a heavier cloth covering the speakers, the treble harshness was gone. VERY comfortable! Not AS comfortable as the Brainwavz but a great match for the M50xs! Totally satisfied with the Shures and would highly recommend them to anyone finding the headphones uncomfortable. Great soundstage, sparkling highs, airy and exciting midrange and of course the punchy/tight and deep bass. Awesome pads for this headphone...5
