    Nice tools!I am impressed with these clay sculpting tools. I bought them for my Grandson, I have no idea if he will enjoy working with clay but you never know till you try it. He is always bored so I figured it was a small price if he doesn't like it. I figured he could look up working with clay on the internet to get ideas. (I LOVE the internet!) I also bought him a 5 pound chunk of air dry clay. Maybe if he does, I will know what to give him other Christmas's! These tools are pretty nice. The wooden pieces and sanded very smooth and there is everything one needs to use to make whatever you like. Worth the price!5This is a cool starter kit setThis is a cool starter kit set, cheaper in contrast to the unnecessarily expensive set that my school sells.Don't expect anything too amazing, but it can get you through a few semesters on a budget.4Not perfect, but decent value for the money.If you just need an inexpensive set to see if you like throwing, or won't need them long, these are great. As with most tools, you get what you pay for and the edges on the wood are thicker/more blunt and the edges on the ribbon tools become dull more quickly than you'd find on higher-quality tools. However, these are perfectly serviceable and - other than the edge-issues - my set has been holding up well for the six months I've been using it. Notably, the metal scraper, needle tool, sponge, and cutter all seem to of the same quality/construction as the tools the local ceramics teaching studio uses - not that they're gold standard, but they are a good value - they get the job done and hold up well with standard use.3Basic kit that does the jobAs expected, this is a very basic ceramics working kit. It made it through my first semester and all pieces are still functional. As others have noted, the wooden pieces do get moldy, but who would put wet wood into a plastic case without drying it out first? Kept clean and dry, these tools work fine for a beginner. I especially liked that the needle tool was all metal, one that doesn't corrode easily.4Great set for beginnersWHY I BOUGHT IT:I just started a ceramic course for beginners and decided to buy my own tools, as sharing the ones provided by the teacher slowed me down too much.WHAT YOU GET:I bought the 8-piece set, which contains a nice variety of basic tools (see photo). The tools are pretty high quality for the price: they are made of steel and hardwood. As a beginner, I was able to sculpt clay using this tools with no issues, and I didn't notice a lot of difference with respect to the higher quality tools provided by the teacher.The tools come in a plastic pouch which is very handy, but a bit to small in my opinion.BOTTOM LINE:This is a great set for beginners, especially at this price! If you are not a professional, these are the tools for you.4Perfect set.I bought these for a Pottery class that I took and they are quality tools that the teacher was impressed with. She was even thinking of ordering the set in bulk. I've had this set for 2 years and all of it is in perfect condition so I know that they tools are made well. I definitely recommend this set for classes of all skill level. The set includes all you will need for throwing and trimming, besides the clay and wheel!5You get what you payed forHad this for about 2-3 weeks now and here are the pros and cons..Pros: Lightweight, comes in a small see through plastic bag, includes all tools, shipping was alright and price is greatCons: I barely put pressure on my pin tool and it started to bend easily so that sucked. It was able to bend back to its original place but it's not perfect.The bag is quite small and it's hard to fit all the tools in it at once.Again, you get what you payed for so I would only suggest this to beginners.3Good setThe wire on my clay cutter came severely bent and it could not be fixed. It was also extremely long which may be a benefit for some users but for my usage was too much. The other tools have served me well for over 3 months and hopefully will continue to do so. The wood on the handles is raw so the clay/water will soak in and take some time to dry but so far have had no rot or permanent damage from that. A good set for beginners!4Great set for the priceGreat set for the price, but the edges come dull and barely made it through 6 weeks of use (used about 8 hours a week). They are wood and aren't treated so they will start to mold if you don't dry properly. Needle is weak and bent within the first couple uses. Wire cuts just fine. For anything besides a short class, you're better off investing in a more expensive product. Used on long beach white cone 10 clay and b-mix cone 10.3You get what you pay for.I got this set because it is the cheapest on amazon. After working with clay for a couple of years, I can say this:1. Unless you own your own studio you will not use this set. Every shared studio has better basic pottery tools.2. If you decide to get your own set get a more pricy but better quality one. The only items you will need from a set like this is a needle tool, a trimming tool, and a wire. Needle tool and wire in this set are acceptable; trimming tool is dull and too round, there is no flat surface here that would allow for a nice even trim.2
