Customer Reviews

Good idea, very poor execution. Crooked. Worthless. Awful. I cut fabric A LOT, so I had high hopes for this ruler/straight edge. Bought the extra large cutting mat, also. Amazon rocked fast delivery. Ruler was off by 1/4" at length. This is plexiglass like all your other rulers. They heat, then fold over one end so that that end will hang over and glide along the edge of the cutting mat, giving more stability off the straight edge. Problem is, they fold it over crooked. This negates all of the benefit of the lip. If you still have to hold the ruler straight, it is just the same as every other one. Sent first back, received second. It WAS WORSE. First photo was first one ordered. Second and third were next one (replacement). How could manufacturers not know this? I have an idea to make my own. This is just useless. 1The difference is the lip. This is a good ruler to have in your sewing arsenal. The length is great, the markings are easy to read and the lip is great. It helps to keep your line straight. I put it up against the edge of my cutting mat when cutting large pieces of fabric. Lets face it, it's the cut line isn't straight, you're wasting good fabric and time. I don't always have a steady hand when cutting fabric, but this O'Lipfa (funny name) does make it a lot easier for me to cut a straight line with one continuous line or having to move my hand placement to continue to cut. Hope that makes sense. 5Crooked! This ruler is garbage. The lip edge is slightly crooked. I wasted a yard of fabric trying to figure out if I was losing my mind or if my hand was slipping until I realized that the ruler itself was crooked. I didn't save the shipping box (it ships in a long, odd-sized box, so I guess I'm stuck with it. Total waste of money. 1great concept, poor execution Great concept...poor execution. The lip on the edge of the ruler is supposed to catch on the edge of the table or cutting mat, giving more stability to the ruler as you make a cut. That would be great...if the lip itself were straight. The lip on the ruler I received is slanted, so when hooked onto the table edge as it is meant to be, the ruler sits crooked. Not so easy to make a straight cut with a crooked ruler. I would return but it's just not worth the effort. 1Crooked, can't depend on measurment Whoever made this ruler is cockeyed. The lip which I depend on a great deal is crooked. When I align the lip of the ruler up with the edge of my cutting mat (and NO my cutting mat is not off) and align the ruler on the fabric the ruler is off by an 1/8" at the top, which means I really have to hold the ruler tight to make sure it doesn't slip over. I will probably toss this out to go to the Goodwill and hope a new unexperienced quilter doesn't get it and wonder why their blocks are off. I ONLY USE rulers with lips and always from O'Lipfa but this one failed miserably 1Construction issues. I had one of these before. I loved the lip on the ruler that helped hold it straight. Unfortunately it broke so I ordered this one. It arrived with the top lip not plumb with the ruler...about 30 degrees off. I was sent another and the second one wasn't plumb either, off by about 15 degrees. Cannot be used as designed unless the top lip is set at 90 degrees. Disappointed. 2Poor Quality Control./ But Replaced. This is how Off the Top Lip is to the mat edge. Useless for long strips.Next Day Edit: I contacted manufacturer. I told them if I return to Amazon I will just get another crooked ruler. They say they will Fed Ex a Straight One to me.I will be happy if they fix this problem for everyone.Update: The manufacturer sent out a replacement very quickly and it is a very good quality replacement. I am happy now. Great customer service from the manufacturer. 4Bought this to replace one I inherited from my mom ... Bought this to replace one I inherited from my mom 17 years ago(she had hers for at least 10 years), because it finally developed some defects along the cutting edge (my fault really as I was new to rotary cutters, and occasionally pressed on the ruler rather than the fabric. Duh...). I am thrilled to have this as the raised edge wits the edge of the cutting mat and helps hold the ruler straight when I cut, and given the previous ones longevity, maybe MY daughter will inherit it from me (I intend to instruct here on the used of rotary cutters, LOL). 5Inacurate measurement Sadly I got one of the crooked ones. I'm glad I measured twice before cutting or I would have wasted the fabric. Trying to use the lip made the ruler very crooked. When using without the lip, lines were not straight on the ruler itself. Some lines matched up with my cutting board, but others would not. Would be a great product if they could fix the accuracy of the lines 1This is the second O'Lipfa I have purchased and both were like pictured. The first was from a quilt shop ... DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!!!! Please see picture for defect; picture is worth a thousand words!! This is the second O'Lipfa I have purchased and both were like pictured. The first was from a quilt shop which they tried to file square and the second one came from Amazon. I sent the pic and information to the manufacturer but received no response (of course). 1
