Customer Reviews

Can t cut fabric! Not Returnable!Ordered this to cut fabric and it wouldn t cut through thin cotton.Updated to add that I was told I cannot return this even though it s defective. I m trying to make it work but it s very unsafe. To get it to cut through one layer of thin fabric I have to push down so much my hand hurts. This isn t safe because you are more likely to slip and cut yourself like I did. Also I had to adjust the blade because it wouldn t actually rotate when I first got it.This is a poorly designed product that is unsafe! Pay a little more money for something that actually works.1HIGHLY recommended to other new quiltersI bought a Fiskars cutter first & struggled with it. I noticed that Olfas are pictured in a lot of quilting books and blogs, so I ordered this, and it made a HUGE difference for me. I like the straight handle. The blade is slightly smaller (but much sharper) than the Fiskar's blade, and this makes cuts easier for me, too.545mm size perfect for cutting large pattern pieces from fabricI have been making a lot of little skirts for my toddler girl. The patterns I use are mostly made up of big rectangles. I love, love, love using the rotary cutter for all of these straight lines rather than using shears. The process goes so much faster with a rotary cutter. I also used it to cut out the pieces to recover a set of couch pillows - 12 in all. It would have taken forever to cut out with scissors, but so fast with the rotary cutter. This one really is the right size for cutting fabric, not too big, not too small. The blade has stayed sharp after many uses, but fabric is easier on a blade than paper. I did buy some replacement blades, but I am still using the original and it has been 9 months with no decrease in cutting ease. I am thinking about buying the 28mm size for paper cutting as well5Handy Cutter!Larger size wheel is great for making long, straight cuts in many materials. Excellent Quality! Sometimes a sharp utility knife will shred some materials. The wheel cutter slices through without drag. Nice!5Not my favoriteI have not decided how I feel about this knife yet. I am currently trying to switch to a different rotary knife and was suggested this one by a friend. I have given it 3 stars until I decide if I m going to keep it or not because it s a lot less stable than my old one. I feel like the blade is less protected with this knife making it unsafe. The blade doesn t want to stay up and likes to tilt to one side and it tends to veer off to the right at the end.. just badly designed. Only thing I really like right now is the protection guard slides down and reminds you to push it back up so you never forget and cut yourself.Probably will not keep this knife but will give it one more try3Great for...everything!Glides around chopping everything in its path! I absolutely love using this to cut leather. I purchased the 45mm after having gotten the 28mm and it is much better. I've attached photos to show the cutting depth approximately (in mm).I also played around with it on regular paper, very nice. I used it to cut some sandpaper, and really a lot of things. I even used it to cut the tag off a shirt and got a really good form since I would roll it exactly where I needed! I'm finding it hard to use anything else at this point. Why use scissors when I can just trace around whatever I want? For rough work it is very quick and accurate enough.Truly a versatile little tool. If you're going to be cutting anything over about 4-5mm I would definitely look at getting the 45mm one instead. Otherwise the smaller 28mm should suit you.5didn't know a person could actually wear out a rotary ...didn't know a person could actually wear out a rotary cutter. after 18 years had to replace mine and tried several of the newer ones with fancy handles and grips. nope. went right back to Olga.5Do A Great JobPartner uses it for sewing and I have used it to cut material such as tool drawer liners for a custom fit. Easy peasy and very sharp. Use the cutting board and plastic edge and it takes little effort for a nicely measured and accurate cut.Have extra blades. Never cut with dull blades. Like a dull knife. Causes more harm than good.5Well-made tool and cuts plastic shelf linersCuts like a breeze. I used it to cut plastic shelf liners. I think it wore the blade pretty quickly; had to buy the replacements after doing about a dozen. But I'm not sure if plastic is the intended purpose. Will still use for this purpose, along with fabric items.5I really liked the safety shieldSolid handle with blade that stays in place, (I have another brand cutter that the wheel goes in and out of the handle. When I pressed hard, the blade would jump back into the handle) . The safety shield is easy to use which encourages you to use it to prevent injury.5
