It's not good, but it's acceptable for the price
Quality control sucks. If you need a unit that goes together once and never comes back appart again this is perfect for you. The threads on the shaft to base we're both VERY rough. It took about 30 minutes of cleaning the tread in the base out with an exacto knife and taking the threded end of the shaft to a wire wheel, to get the the thing together. Frustrating as I was hoping to be able to take this appart frequently. As it is, with all my efforts, the shaft only screws into the base about half way and it's not moving.Second part... The collet is plastic but the piece of plastic that tightens the shaft when extended was jamed half way over the threads when it arrived. I had to hold the plastic piece and smash the shaft into the ground, as hard as I could, to get it off the top threads.Honestly... I should have just returned the thing after discovering the base wouldn't thread and the plastic piece were all messed up.In all, I think it will be fine for my needs. I am mounting very light 360 camera to it for timelaps shots with a minimal foot print.I'll update later as it gets some use. Hopefully it will redeem itself.(Used it, works fine for me)
3Great stand, great value and I am glad I bought it.
This MIC stand is perfect, and 100% a great value. Why? Not only is it exactly "as advertised" but it is also a traditional microphone stand with a weighted (cast iron?) base with a small footprint. This means you can place it where you need it and not deal with the quick-release tripod "style" legs. This makes a difference if your microphone is heavy. It assembles (screws/unscrews) very easy and quick (if needed). The threads are very tight and I haven't had to tighten it while performing whatsoever, nor have I needed to use "thread lock" to make sure I keep it tight. This is important. It also comes with a microphone holder, which is usually $5-$10 as an accessory at a music store. There are also plastic "nibs" for the base of the microphone stand to keep it from sliding and scratching the floor and a microphone cable clamp. The height is adjustable, so you can easily use it at a desk, standing, or with other accessories like a boom-stand.Overall, I haven't seen mic stands built like this for less than $35 in decades. I also like how the stand is balanced - if you're theatrical with your stage presence, the mic stand is also a great prop.
5Sturdy and Stable Solution for Your Wired Microphone
The cheapest solution for holding a microphone, period. Great quality and professional. Extends to any usable height you need and the base has enough weight to keep your mic firm. The included mic clip was too small for my wireless mic (my wired mic fit fine), but that was an easy replacement. Also comes with a clip to keep your wire from your wired mic against the pole and concealed. This was the perfect solution for me!If you found this review helpful please say so :)
5Decent Mic Stand But Not As Pictured OR Described... Amazon Needs To Get This Handled...
Okay, so I can see for years there have been things here that do not match the Pictures or Description. Here are very important things you need to know:1. The Mic Base does not weigh 9+ pounds as described. Mine weighs 7 pounds TOTAL with the Pole attached. This is a very important thing because for me, I bought the mic stand just for the base so that I could use it for a project that needed to be heavy weighted at the base so it would not tip over.2. The picture shows a Metal tightener for the pole but it comes with a plastic one... these are FAR inferior to the metal.3. You need to know that the pole does not extend as high as most mike stands. This will not be a problem in some parts of the world but in the good ole USofA you have some pretty tall cowboys here.Overall this mic stand IS worth the price and this is why I gave it 4 stars however its morally wrong to have pictures that do not reflect the product and information about the product that is crucial to the product that is flatly incorrect.Id say buy this unless you are 6'2" or taller. its worth 20 to 25 bucks all day long.
4A Miss for Me
The mic barrel on this was the width of a highlighter marker. Not to mention that it arrived here in a torn up used box, and partially opened, when I paid for a new one-not used. This was too cheap of quality. The plastic barrel was not only too small to fit any of my mics, it looked like it would crack right away if I tried to put anything in it. Im only 5'3 not wearing heels, so when extended, its perfect for me at 5'7. However, it is short just like other reviewers said. I returned this the next day. I'd rather pony up the dough for a high quality mic stand.
1The advertised pictures are deceiving and not accurate
From the picture I posted you can see that these stands do not include a small collar at the top of the stand as the advertised picture shows. This is VERY important if you plan on using these for accessories that need that - and the only reason I was ordering these stands. I wouldn't have ordered these if I had known they would be missing or not included. The build quality is also very inconsistent. One of the stands I ordered had some paint issues - the paint hadn't cured and is still sticky and coming off when you touch it. Yes, they're cheap - but if you need that collar/stop at the top for any reason - don't waste your time with these.
1These are nice for the price but I had two problems with ...
These are nice for the price but I had two problems with the stands from the start. First the collar that holds the top part of the mic stand up was broken and would just slide right down when you tried to tighten it up. Second when I received the replacement(quickly) the bottom part of the stand would not screw in completely. I had to take out my die and tap set to redo the threads in the bottom of the stand. So the price was cheap and the stand seems to be made ok but just seems to have had a few problems from the start. I don't know how long they will last so I will update if things change.
4Avoid this stand. JUNK.
After 18 years doing live sound I've 100% found the worst mic stand I've ever used. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM! Needed quick and cheap for a last minute event and I wish I would have just spent the extra money for a quality stand. Didn't even open the 4th box they were so bad. The threaded end where the mic mounts just spins and spins within the shaft. Clutch is made of very cheap plastic. The base is the only quality part, but it's hard to screw that up. Again do not buy this item. You get what you pay for.
I purchased this for my husband, strangely enough, to use with Rock Band 4 and Rocksmith on the PS4. Unfortunately, the RB microphone is too wide to fit well, but that isn't the stands fault. It's a great stand, the base is well weighted so it doesn't tip and everything stays where it should. Rather than returning the stand, hubby opted to design and 3D print an adapter to clip to the RB mic that does fit in the stand's mic holder, and now he can happily play drums or guitar while he sings.
5Clutch broke, having trouble with customer service to repair or replace clutch
I know that this is out of warranty, but it is supposed to be a "pro" microphone stand, so one would think that the clutch would not wear out with minimal use over the period of time I have had it. The clutch has worn out, and I contacted customer service February 25, 2018, with a request to help me determine if I can replace or repair the clutch. I did NOT ask them to do it under a warranty, I asked for information about whether it is possible to repair it, and what the cost would be. If it is repairable at a reasonable cost, I would rather repair or replace the clutch than have to buy an entire new microphone stand! I have been communicating with the company for several weeks now, and after much discussion, they have decided to simply tell me to contact their parts department, saying that their parts department will help me. They gave me a phone number to call. Nobody ever answers that phone number, and their voice mailbox is full, and won't accept new messages. I have contacted the customer service representative to tell him that, and he says that he is also "doing his part" to try to contact the parts department. Every couple of days I get an email from Pyle, asking me if I have answered the latest communication from customer service, which I had done. I am very frustrated and aggravated. I have since purchased a new microphone stand from a different company..... but I would still like to know if this can be repaired, or replaced, or if I should just throw it away. I hate to fill the landfill with stuff that can be fixed!
