Not as Useful As I'd HopedThis is okay. I haven't found it as useful as I'd hoped. The marking for 5/8th doesn't extend quite to the end and I find that a major flaw. And ideally it should have a convex edge AND a concave edge. I just don't find myself reaching for it.
3Markings scratch off too easilyAfter maybe 8 months of occasional, amateur-desist use, the markings on this gauge are scratching off noticeably (see photo). It has worked reasonably well during that time, but it is obviously cheaply made and will not last more than two years. Next time I'll invest in something more durable.
2Quality productThe one I bought at Walmart doesn t stay on the mark. Have to keep and eye on it to make sure it doesn t move. This one is perfect!
5I tried to "eyeball" before this Sewing Gauge was in ...I tried to "eyeball" before this Sewing Gauge was in my hand. Now, I cannot work without it, it is so helpful. The hemming is even and any other edges or measurements are also even. What an improvement to an amateur sewing. This helps make sewn products look professionally made.
5Perfect sewing gauge!Time tested! I bought this gauge to replace an identical one that was well over 30 years old, well used and a little bent. The quality appears to still be there and the design still works, without question.
5Don't buy it. It's junk. This is a piece of crap. While opening the package the plastic center piece came out and now it''s useless. VERY disappointed.... What happened to it being all metal?
1it is a durable metal that works fine for a quick hem pressingI wish it had different markings on it - it seems whatever I'm looking for at the time either has the right markings on the wrong side of what I am trying to do, i.e. curved when I want straight, etc. Maybe markings on both sides of the product could help with reducing clutter for adding more markings but it is only marked on one side. It seems for the price they could afford to print on both. Generally I use this for felled seams but have just reverted to using a stay/guide stitch on the fabric itself to turn under. Otherwise, it is a durable metal that works fine for a quick hem pressing!
3This isn't a bad seam gaugeThis isn't a bad seam gauge, except for one major flaw: I didn't look very closely before purchasing, and I assumed that the point turner would be on the "big" end of the scale, so that there would be a nice flat "zero" line. Alas, the point turner is on the zero end. So if you're like me and you like to be able to slip the gauge inside of hems, or use your finger to line up the zero end with the edge of fabric, this isn't the seam gauge for you. I keep it in my sewing kit for the point turner, but got another seam gauge to use.
3Very handy indeelVery well made and should last a lifetime. Very helpful in that you can press right over the gauge. It doesn't leave a sharp crease, but enough that you can slide it to the next section and firmly press the part you just left and then repeat. I haven't found that the curved section has been as helpful for me as the straight, but I am guessing that I will someday be very grateful for it.
5Multiple features minor sharp edgesThis is also a point turner, which can save you money. 0 is the first line before 1 not the top of the triangle, for people like me who get confused easily. You can do seams with your iron, just beware of the heated metal. The ruler has some unintended semi- sharp edges, so be careful and keep it away from the kids.
